- These images reconstruct Alton Cardinal's photo albums
- from the negatives which he kept in envelopes, organized
- by quarter.

- There are some differences from the printed images.
- Most significant is that the album begins in 1936.
- - I did not find any negatives before 1939.
- - The album often omits pictures of himself.
- - The scanned negatives are not always in the order taken
- or the order in which the prints were mounted in the album.
- - The prints typically include slightly less of the image.
- - Some negatives suffered later damage.

- The available negatives were scanned in the summer of 2015
- and I transcribed Alton Cardinal's notations from the back
- of the corresponding prints.
