Everyone is talking about the long weekend. I don't get it. This weekend is the same as every other one. It runs from late Friday morning through Monday evening.
OK, OK, I do get it. This is one of the few weeks when other people get the same weekend I normally get. So, what do they do with it? Something special. Leave town. Go somewhere. Hmm. I suppose I could do that. The weather is good, and where should I go?
First, to Wequiock Falls on Friday afternoon. Just a couple of hours of biking to get pictures of the park plus a view of the bay.
On Sunday, a quick jaunt through Atkinson's marsh. There isn't much marsh left, actually, but there are still birds, and the geese are taking their families out for Sunday afternoon strolls. Nope, no pictures.
Then Monday. To the Fox River Trail where I see the industrial port facilities and more birds, this time pelicans in flocks.
Turning on Old Martin Road I go to Sportsman's Club Road and thence up the ledge. Might as well get a view. On top of the ledge lives Doug Anderson, his wife, and their chocolate lab. It was Doug that I visited today. He took me to his Meditation Trail located in a bit of woods part way downhill from the house, something he's wanted to show me for several years.
After visiting at the top of the ledge, back to Green Bay by way of Allouez and Woodlawn Cemetery. Not a bad way to spend a normal-sized weekend. All the full-sized images are included in this weekend's directory of photos. Note that some of them are really big.
