Biking to Denmark

This September weather is just so great for biking! The only thing that might be even nicer would be October with the leaves in color. I rode the Fox River Trail FoxRiverTrail to my woods Thursday. Riding through Greenleaf instead of going up over the escarpment may have been a mistake. It bypasses the steep climb on Sportman's Club Road but adds enough miles to more than make up for it, although the scenery is at least as great this way and the directions are simpler. Climbing the hill east of Greenleaf did seriously remind me of riding up the hill on the way to Jacobsburg Park, except that I was able to shift my bike without problems and so I only had to sweat and pant, and not stop until the top.

This time I had the good sense to stash a bottle of Gatorade in the woods and to stop in Denmark for lunch. Lorrie's Lorrie's restaurant is great, by the way, and I'm wondering how to get a small group to go enjoy it together. I emphasize small rather than group. And I when I say small, I refer to the number of people and not the aggregate weight. Which is important, because a large group of people who are obsessed with being skinny would probably not evoke the full ambience of a place which is famous for specialized bread puddings.

I rode back the shorter way, which is also downhill – on the way back.
